The deadline for filing your Dutch income tax return is April 1st of the year following. So, the 2015 Dutch tax return is due before April 1st, 2016.
It is possible to get an extension. You can do this yourself by calling the general information number of the Dutch tax authorities: 0800 0543. An automated system will take you through the process and no explanation is needed. All you need to do is punch in your Dutch tax number (so-called burgerservicenummer). You will then be granted a 5-month extension until September 1st.
Please note that the automated system will be spoken in Dutch!
You can also ask your tax preparer/tax consultancy professional to file for an extension on your behalf. If the request is filed through a registered tax professional, you will be granted a 1-year extension.
If the extension was originally filed by a tax professional then it is also possible to obtain an additional discretionary extension for hardship situations.
